My name is Katie and I live in Colorado, the healthiest state in the Union. Unfortunately, I don’t qualify as helping my state achieve its healthiest state qualification. According to the CDC, I am morbidly obese with a BMI of about 40 (although my starting BMI was 43). I am also a Type 1 Diabetic since 1982. The two factors don’t really promise a very optimistic future for me. So at the urging of my endocrinologist, I am adopting the Colorado Diet which is explained in the book State of Slim by Drs. James Hill and Holly Wyatt at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center. Dr. Holly is the medical adviser for the television show Extreme Weight Loss and Dr. Hill is a pioneer of such concepts as America On The Move. The purpose of SOS is weight loss but also lifestyle modification. By changing my overall dietary habits and increasing my activity level, I hope to lose weight, feel energized, and live longer.
